DK:

UK:
Last Thursday, we received a mail from Helle Holm. She told us, at on Tuesday they had to say goodbye to Wildmountain Tollers Double Trouble aka Valde.
Helle writes in her mail:
“Valde had been troubled by arthritis and three months ago he was in quite a lot of pain for a week. Fortunately, it disappeared again. The vet gave him som pain killers and he told us, that it might be good to start thinking about when it would be time to say goodbye to him – just so that we were prepard. Since then, Valde was super fit. Well, he was almost deaf and he slept more than when he was Young. And we needed to help him get into the car. But other than that he was full of life. Last Sunday, he went hunting with Torben and he did a fantastic job.
Last Tuesday, he walked somewhat stiff on our morning walk. We shortened the trip as it was raining and quite windy. And due to the weather, we were not surprised that he was walking a bit stiff. He got a treat and went to lie down on his Fatboy. We went to work and when we returned, he was even more stiff in his body and he didn’t wag his tail as much. However, he didn’t say no to another treat. We thought that it was the arthritis again. Nevertheless, we took him for a short walk so that he could relieve himself. After approx. 100 meters he collapsed. We carried him home where he took two steps and then lay down gasping. In less than 20 minutes, he was gone. We don’t know what was wrong.
We are so sorry. He meant a lot to us – well, not only to us but to all that knew him. He was so loved by all – from the neighbour’s kids who he has been taking care of since they were born to Torben’s hunting buddies. He understood “charm” but he was also his own master – and we have used the name “Double Trouble” with a glimpse in our eyes”
Valde lived with Helle and Torben in the northern part of Jutland. He was Torben’s hunting dog and the whole family’s family dog. And it was so good at both.
I clearly remember, when I in 2010 received a mail from a proud Torben. He told me that he had been hunting with Valde. One of the hunter’s shoot a deer in its foreleg and it took flight on three legs. Valde set off in pursuit across a ploughed field and after 400 meters he caught the deer in a small wooded area and kept it down until another hunter came and killed it. The German pointers never saw what happened.
Helle and Torben have joined our kennel meetings several times, so we have seen Valde at regular intervals. As his brothers and sisters he was quite small. But he was nicely and roboustly build – and soooo charming.
Valde was after our Daisy and Andelokkeren’s Røde Oscar. He and his siblings were born on 13 June 2017, so it got to celebrate his 10th birthday.
We are sure that Daisy and some of Valde’s siblings will be waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge. I am sure that they will enjoying themselves and mak play some pranks.
R.I.P. sweet Valde
